End of training on EDX 7000 for the use of spectrofluorimeter X-Ray, by M. Fayçal ETTOURI (in white) two teachers of the ISH (Mrs Djeuachi and Dr Djopnang in green and yellow) two Ph.D students from CEPAMOQ (Patricia in black and Dorine in red).
On the high instructions of the Rector of the University of Douala, Professor Guillaume Ekambi Dibongue, Vice Rector in charge of Research, Cooperation and Relations with the Business World, received Mr. Faycal Ettouri of Moroccan nationality, Expert from the International Atomic Energy Agency based in Vienna, Austria, during his mission to the University of Douala from March 6 to 11, 2022 for the provision of very high-tech equipment for the control of the radioactivity in food. This latest generation equipment makes it possible to analyze in record time and with precision minerals and heavy metals, chemical or radiological contaminants, from Sodium to Uranium. This allows Quality Control in food matrices, fish products, water and even in sediments. It is with this in mind that this equipment which was offered by the Agency to the Institute of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences required training for its use. The discussions marked by a great conviviality made it possible to reiterate the determination of the Rector Magloire Ondoa to provide the ISH with powerful tools for its full development.
This visit is part of the National Technical Cooperation Project CMR5023 with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), entitled “Strenthening laboratory capabilities to monitor contaminants in fisheries products.” Engineer Faycal Ettouri has already assembled XRF equipment (EDX-7000), SHIMADZU brand, and installed PCEDX Navi and PCEDX Pro software, in the unit granted to us by MINEPIA at LANAVET in Mboppi.
He also trained teachers previously followers of the IAEA: Mrs Djeuachi Tchuitcheu Huguette Lesly épse Siewe and Dr Djopnang Djimbie Justin from ISH, Dr Bongue Daniel and Dr Ngoa Louis from CEPAMOQ and some students from CEPAMOQ: Degbe Patricia Laurelle, Tiomene Dorine Flore and Haman Félix.
